The plot and props used in this truly baffling effect are very simple indeed; three small folders that will fit into your pocket or wallet and numbered one, two and three.
Apart from these you will need only to supply some kind of prize – it could be anything; a diamond ring, your wallet full of money, a £50 banknote or even a bottle of champagne.
Winner Takes All is a faultless way to approach a table to present your close-up or walkabout magic. Also ideal for street magic!
Imagine taking out your wallet and showing that it is full of money (stage money with just a genuine note at the front if your prefer – but there is no risk of your losing it.)
You also remove three simple folded cards each with a number 1, 2, and 3 on them. You explain that there can only be one winner but you will give your spectator a two-to-one chance.
All they have to do is to select two of the numbers between one and three – the number they don’t select will be yours.
Let us say they select the numbers one and three for themselves and number two for you.
Immediately their two chosen folders are opened to show they both show the word LOSE printed inside in big bold letters – while you the performer open yours to show the word WINNER!
Allowing you to pick up your wallet and slip it back in your pocket with a rueful smile.
Please note:
·The folders are NOT double – each contains just one single word permanently and boldly printed inside it
·You cannot lose unless you wish to do so, for example the birthday child could choose two folders for you – both say LOSE while the child wins a toy or sweeties etc.
·The method is a joy to perform; you will use it in many ways.
·Only three folders are used, no switch of folder & no flaps.
