Several versions of the effect where a spectator chooses a card and discovers his or her own name mysteriously written on its back, have appeared in various books, lectures and magazines. Most rely on the performer secretly obtaining the person’s name beforehand or stealing a suitable card from an index. In this version, that I am releasing for the very first time, all these difficulties have been overcome making the effect easy-to-do and 100% certain.
You show two packs of cards with different coloured backs. The spectator can place one pack into his or her pocket and a card is selected from the other pack, with the participant remembering its name. For the very first time the performer requests the participant’s Christian name. Please note you positively have NOT obtained this name by any means in advance of the performance, thus you can approach a complete stranger.
The pack of cards that the spectator has secure in their pocket is now removed and it is shown that written on the back of each card are different names, one name to each card. The participant’s name is found and taken out of the pack. No switch or exchange is made. The participant now calls out the name of the card they are thinking of – their own name card is turned face upwards – it is the very self same card that they have just called out!
Please note the following points:
·You can perform this anywhere at anytime with complete strangers, no advanced information is required.
·At no point do you secretly write a name on any of the cards.
·In the event of a very unusual name – you are still covered by this stunning effect!
·Requires about thirty minutes work writing different people’s Christian names on the back of the cards but after that you are ready to perform it for ever. Cards and pen are supplied.
