Nick Trosts’ popular effect Copy Cats is a winner for close-up performance and is easy to do – here is our splendid Tarot version!
Ten Tarot cards are dealt face down into two piles of five cards each, both you and a participant each select one pile, which you both shuffle and then hide behind your backs.
You now both secretly select a card, exchange it with the other person and then you each insert your new card face-up into your face-down packet.
When the two packets of cards are brought to the front and spread face down both upturned Tarot cards exactly match each other and are deemed lucky cards, an amazing coincidence! Or were all the cards the same?
When the other eight cards are turned faces upwards your audience are in for an applause-pulling surprise as they are all the same but a different one to the chosen Tarot and also ‘bad luck’ cards which were thankfully avoided with your magic!
Only ten Tarot cards are used in this intriguing effect. No sleight of hand is required. Two different presentations are given.
