A picture of a banana is shown and slipped inside a window envelope where the back of the card can be seen at all times and you ask the children to keep an eye on it. Three further pictures are shown to be your playful pet Monte the Monkey, and two trees.
The Monkey is now turned back outwards, so is one of the Tree pictures and the three cards are mixed together, now follows a fun game in which the boys and girls try to guess with a show of hands which card is the Monkey amongst the three cards, but the joke is on them for each time they pick a Tree card, eventually only one picture card remains and that also turns out to be a Tree – mischievous Monte the Monkey has vanished completely. Where can he be?
Perhaps he is inside the envelope, so you remove the Banana picture placed there earlier only to find the Banana has been eaten leaving only the empty skin.
The children guess that Monte the Monkey is responsible, after all, monkeys do love bananas, so you go looking for him and eventually find him as a cut-out figure in the most unlikely place
