Devil Holes Mystery was originally marketed by me when I first started as a dealer many years ago, and was demonstrated both in my lectures and at conventions and the like worldwide.
At that time it was made for me by Barry Gordon a Midlands’ magician (who was in a wheelchair), every set had to be hand prepared by him, then when Gordon sadly died I had to discontinue the item.
These days I don’t have the time or the dexterity to make these by the hundred sets as Gordon kindly did for me, so I have just made up a few of them.
Pattering about how the Devil sends his devil moths to make holes in our coats and jumpers etc, you place a small envelope in full view explaining that some weeks ago you placed two playing cards inside intending them as a prediction and forgot all about them.
You now introduce a small black plastic triangle and a small black circle and these are used by a spectator to choose two cards from a well-shuffled deck, then they are free to put the two black markers onto either card they choose. Thus if they choose the King of Spades and the Eight of Hearts they could place either marker on either of the two cards.
Anyone opens the prediction envelope and you take out the prediction cards inside, incredibly each has hole in it that corresponds exactly to the chosen cards freely selected by the circle and the triangle. As you remark, “those devilish moths have been at it again!”
