I’ll Try Again is a super card trick based on two popular, well-known and very easy sleights. The effect is very commercial yet easy to do, the routine is outstanding and highly practical.
You have a playing card selected from a blue-backed pack, replaced (no force) and spreading the deck out face down you show among the cards a single red-backed card. “Wouldn’t it be amazing if that turns out to be your blue-backed card?” you ask, you show it but it’s the wrong card, let’s say they chose the Four of Hearts and the red-backed card is the Seven of Spades.
“I made a mistake.” you admit as you place the red-backed card in full view back outwards saying, “Let’s get rid of this red-backed card and I will try again.”
A second blue-backed card is selected in a very fair manner and the pack is again spread out faces down in full view as you seek another red-backed card amongst the blues - but there isn’t one to be seen.
“What was the name the card you selected? you ask. They reply, “The king of diamonds.” The discarded red-backed card is now turned over by anyone and amazingly it is the King of Diamonds!
You will learn this splendid card effect in less than twenty minutes. The two easy sleights you probably already know but if you are a new to magic, we explain them.
