A fabulous classic of magic! You tell a story about your local Fishmonger who put up a sign to say 'Fresh Fish Sold Here'.
Along came his first customer who said "Your sign is all wrong everyone knows that you are selling your fish here - not somewhere else!" So saying, he ripped off the word 'Here' so the sign now read 'Fresh Fish Sold'
A few minutes later along came his second customer who said, "Your sign is all wrong - everyone knows you are selling the fish and not giving it away free of charge!" And with that she ripped off the word 'Sold' - so the sign now read 'Fresh Fish' and she went on her way.
You guessed it, ten minutes later along came his third customer who said: "Your sign is all wrong - everyone knows you are not selling stale fish" - and she ripped off the word 'Fresh' - leaving only the word 'Fish'.
Just then a fourth customer came along and looked at the sign saying "Fish - what a funny sign. Are you selling it, buying it or going fishing? You need a proper sign!"
Fortunately the Fishmonger was also a magician so he rubbed the torn sign between his fingers and stretched it out restored - when once more it read: 'Fresh Fish Sold Here'.
As you tell the story you tear away each word from the paper sign and at the finish the sign becomes fully restored once more! Very easy to do.
